12 months ago we planted an acre of woodland with a mixture of beech, silver birch and oak. A year on we are pleased to say the trees are doing rather well with only a few casualties from the cold winter and then dry summer spell. These have replaced an area of woodland that was once under-managed, offering very little benefits to either timber production or the wildlife population in the area.
The timber felled has been converted to logs for supply to the Cheshire area. Consisting of a mixture of drying hardwood or overgrown softwood species, it has meant we have been able to supply more local logs to Cheshire customers but in turn rejuvenate a woodland habitat.
